Declining Trends of Maui’s Reefs Presented to Maui Count Council

On November 16th the MNMRC and Maui Coral Reef Recovery Team presented to the Maui County Council Infrastructure and Environmental Management Committee on the declining trends of Maui’s reefs and solutions for reversing the trend. Many thanks to Councilmember Elle Cochran for her ongoing support of the MNMRC and efforts to restore our natural resources. Mahalo to our awesome team of panelists: Tegan Hammond (MNMRC), Mike Field (USGS), Ekolu Lindsey (Polanu Hiu CMMA), Russell Spakrs (DAR) and Mark Deakos (HAMER). Our next stop is meeting with State and Federal legislators and agencies to have this same discussion. It will take all of us working together to make this happen.
