      Maui Nui Marine Resource Council is a respected, 10-year old community organization recognized for our ability to bring diverse groups together on collaborative solutions for our nearshore waters. We also take pride in attracting passionate, capable, dedicated people to work as part of our small, hard-working team to achieve our vision of clean ocean water, healthy coral reefs and abundant native fish for the islands of Maui County.

      Executive Director

      Position Summary

      The Executive Director (ED) will combine a passion for our vision with the willingness to 
do what is necessary to complete everyday activities. Reporting to the Board of
Directors, the ED will have overall strategic and operational responsibility. The ED will
 develop and maintain successful programs, operations, marketing, community
 education/outreach and staffing and will develop business and fundraising plans for this 
growing organization.

      Responsibilities
      Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

      Board Governance:

      Work with board in order to fulfill the organization mission.

      Responsible for leading in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s
 mission as defined by the Board of Directors.

      Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a 
timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to make 
informed decisions.

      Financial Performance:
      Develop resources sufficient to ensure the organization‘s
 financial health.

      Responsible for fiscal management within the Board-approved budget and 
maintenance of the organization’s positive financial position.

      Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support
 MNMRC’s mission.

      Mission and Strategy:
      Work with board and staff to ensure that the mission is 
fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.

      Responsible for implementing MNMRC’s programs that carry out the 
organization’s mission

      Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that MNMRC can successfully fulfill
 its Mission.

      Responsible for protecting MNMRC’s image/brand by staying active and visible
 in the community and by working closely with other organizations.

      
Operations:
      Ensure that the organization functions effectively

      Responsible for administering MNMRC operations.

      Responsible for hiring and retaining competent, qualified staff.

      
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
      Bachelor’s degree
      Transparent and high integrity leadership
      Two or more years nonprofit management experience
      Strong written and oral communication skills
      Hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis,
 decision-making and reporting
      Organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and
 task facilitation
      Ability to convey a vision of MNMRC’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers
 and donors
      Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit
 sector
      Collaboration and motivation skills re staff, Board, partners and volunteers
      Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
      Strong public speaking ability

      Compensation
      This is a full-time, exempt position that includes benefits and requires occasional
 regional and national travel as well as occasional evenings and/or weekends.
 Compensation is commensurate with experience.
